Horsemanship Day Camp

Registration form

Our popular Horsemanship Day Camps consist of five full-day sessions (8:30-5).  Days are filled with horse activities:  care, education, and riding.  Each camper is responsible for feeding, watering, and cleaning up after his/her assigned horse.  Education topics cover horse nutrition, basic health care, ground work/handling of the horse, and body work for successful riding.  And there is plenty of saddle time to learn or refine skills.  Half days (8:30 – 1) are available for a small number of younger students or those with special needs.  Call Ms. Theresa for availability and fees.

Our first camp, May 24-28, is for adults only.  This is our second year to cater to adults…we had a super good time last year!  No horse experience is required; however, if you own a horse, you may want to board your horse for that week so the two of you can work on skills together.  Our adult campers range from novice to advanced.  We tailor the content to the specific needs of the campers, but we try to get in some precision drill team riding and maybe an introductory trails outing.  What a great vacation!

Our second camp, June 14-19, is reserved for current Diamond TR students.  Since these students already know the basics of Diamond TR horse care and handling, we are able to spend more time on advancing and refining skills.  This camp is especially helpful for students who are interested in advanced riding skills or showing in the future.

Our third camp, June 28 – July 2, is open to youths aged 6 – 18.  No horse experience is required.  We assign beginners to a horse that matches their size and temperament so that they can learn the basics of horse care.  Many of our current students take this camp also as a means to refresh their own horsemanship skills.  By the end of the week, the campers will be able to perform a simple drill team routine…even if they’ve never been in the saddle before.

Spaces are going fast!  A 50% deposit will hold a spot for your camper, with the balance due the first day of camp.  Return the registration form, along with your deposit, as soon as possible since we accept campers on a first come-first served basis.  Cancellations with full refund are accepted until May 10 (Adult Camp), May 31 (DTR Student Camp), or June 14 (Open Camp), with no refund for cancellation after those dates.

If your camper is not a current Diamond TR student, you will be sent a medical questionnaire, release form, and barn rules after we receive the registration form and deposit.  Please review the Barn rules with your camper.  Note:  riding helmet and boots are required!  Contact us if you have any questions, particularly about safe riding attire.
