I think we’ve all thawed out after hosting the ADS Show on a freezing April Sunday! Everything went well despite the frigid wind freaking out some visiting horses. Many thanks to the volunteers who helped make the day a success (Addy, Genny, Nancy, and Martin). Thanks to Melissa & Russell who served as coggins checkers…they certainly made my day less stressful. Now it’s time to start looking forward to other events:
Adult Horse Camp is coming soon…May 14-18.
Open Horse Camp is June 4 – 8. Open to students and non-students…no experience necessary. (I will need some volunteer counselors for this week.)
Advanced Student Horse Camp is June 11 – 15. This is open only to DTR students who are ready to learn more advanced horsemanship.
Registration forms for all camps are in the office or on-line.
Other events on the calendar include:
4H Horse Camp: May 29 – June 1
Cathy Zappe Clinic: May 19-20
Arabian Horse Show: June 23 (No lessons that day)
ADS Schooling Show at DTR: July 29 (will need lots of volunteers for this show)
Congratulations to all three DTR Drill Teams: Diamond Kids Varsity, Diamond Kids JV, Diamond Kids Adult.
What a fun, fantastic program you performed…and with only a brief dress rehearsal ride through!
The JV and Adult teams had only this morning’s ride-through for their performance.
Carrie and Addy rode a brand new Pas de Deux with a new movement that no one has ridden before (because I just made it up Thursday night).
And the grand finale had all 9 riders in formation…and they’ve never ridden together before! Talk about a challenge!!!
But all 9 riders kept their heads up and their wits about them as they adjusted their riding to the ever shifting rhythms of a drill team performance. And they did a great job of showing their horses the confident leadership a horse needs in a new situation. Way to go!!
I did a lot of smiling on the sidelines watching everyone demonstrate what they’ve been learning in lessons and drill team practice.
For those who missed yesterday’s show, I hope you’ll be able to join us for the next one…date tba.
