Diamond TR Ranch

Horsemanship Camps

Adult, Student-only, and open Horsemanship camps

Riding camps at Diamond TR Ranch have continued to be so popular that we have created 3 unique camps to meet the needs of our students, boarders, and those interested in learning to ride.  Mark your calendars for these camps for 2012.

Adult Horsmanship Camp (ages 18-80+ accepted) -May 21-25 (Registration deadline May 11)

One of my adult students playfully ‘complained’ about the kid students getting to have “all the fun” of a week devoted to horses.  Even though the Student Camp is open to all students, she felt her needs and goals were too different from those of the younger students.  “They make it look too easy.”  And thus was born the idea for a camp devoted just to the needs of the adult rider.  It’s always in May so moms can send their kids off to school instead of finding a babysitter.  Many campers ride their own horses, but we have lesson horses available for those who are still in the ‘dreaming’ stage of horse ownership.  Our daily activities are based on the needs of the campers, so we may discuss horse nutrition one day (by foraging in a pasture) and the art of getting a horse through a water obstacle the next.  We include suppleness training for horses and riders.  Each day is filled with laughter, discussions, and saddle time.  Join us this year for a horse-focused vacation.

Students Horsemanship Camp - June 11-15 (Registration deadline June 4)

Can you imagine spending all day at the barn and riding twice a day?  Saddle time is the best way to polish riding skills, but most of our students do not own their own horses.  Thus, their progress is limited by how often they take lessons (the only time they ride).  Student Camp gives these riders a chance to ride twice a day for five days.  Activities are geared to the level of the student, but newer students learn a lot from the more experienced ones.  The experienced students get a chance to improve their skills.  Whether your goal is showing or just enjoying horses, this camp will challenge your to progress toward that goal.  It’s a week filled with fun, riding, learning, riding, and fun.  Don’t miss this opportunity!

Open Horsemanship Camp (Open to non-students) Camp - June 25-29 (Registration deadline June 4)

Spending all day at a barn and riding twice a day, Wow!  What a fun way to find out if your child (or you) really wants to learn to ride a horse!  We plan our Open Camp to introduce new or occasional riders to the joy of being around horses.  Campers spend a full day learning ground and saddle skills that help them be safe and have fun with horses.  There is a high ratio of counselors to campers so beginners and those with special needs can have very close help.  No upper age limit??  One adult camper wanted to learn how to ride before she went on an EquiTour!
